New Commercial: Blue Cross/Blue Shield Michigan!

Good morning fans!

I am so excited! Well.....actually a bit exhausted and had been snoozing and sleeping in this morning! I'm dictating this blog to mommy so she can type for me.  We completed the shooting of the regional commericial for TV showing in Michigan yesterday for Blue Cross/ Blue Shield!  I was so happy to represent a company that my mom actually sells for.  We got up early yesterday morning and mommy packed my whole kit of tools I need for my acting craft.  They included a huge satchel which she holds under her arm filled with  balls, bully sticks, a blanket for me to rest on, a "cooling outfit" should it get too hot to cool me off  between takes, plenty of water ,a cup for water, loads of treats and a special huge stuffed toy about twice as big  as me so I can play with it to get me all excited and make me smile on cue!

She did not feed me breakfast (darn it! ) but this is part of the price of being a dog actor!  She actually gave me a tiny treat as she also didn't want me to get car sick. We drove to Pasadena and entered a special lot for the "crew area only". They had a nice catering truck and as it was early in the morning, mommy gathered up a cup of strong coffee,  I played with the guard, she had a bit of breakfast and then we were  transported by a special private shuttle to the set location.

It was at an adorable craftsman home in Pasadena on a wide tree lined street and looked like we were back east in the country. We entered our large trailer and were joined by the production manager and production people who were scurrying around with walky talkies and making it all happen behind the scenes.
My call time to arrive was 10:00am but mommy made sure we were much earlier than that. I excitedly played with the pretty production manager whom mommy actually knows and got myself into a crazed happy state.  I began happily panting and they all began shooting vidos of me on their respective I-phones, until mommy put a halt to the craziness  and demanded I get some rest! She is a real "buzz-kill" sometimes! They were all laughing at me as I  get a huge smile like the cheshire cat in Alice In Wonderland or the "joker" of Batman fame!  She wrapped me in my blanket and got me to calm down on a nice leather sofa to get some "shut-eye" so I could be ready for the commercial and being on the real set.
About 11am the little boy arrived that was to be in my scene.  He was only 4 years old and adorable. I tried to approach him but he was a bit afraid of me at first. Mommy soothed him and assured him I was "friendly"  and played with small kids all the time.  We later spoke to the dad and he said his child actually owns a Standard Poodle and one other larger dog....so I thought...why be scared of me I'm 1/4 their size!  We became friends and he wanted to continually give me treats. Again, mommy put a halt to that! Yikes!
Our scene was in a gorgeous old craftsman home where we were in the kitchen with the mom in the scene and then we scampered into the living room on cue and ran out and played. Then, the took the cameras to the mom talking  about the need for health insurance and reviewing  the Blue Cross/ Blue Shield plans!
I nailed it on one take but they seemed to want me to continually do this. They had the boy follow me out,  show me the treats and "reward me" off camera. Mommy actually was in the living room and quietly cued me to run out to the cameras. There was alot of commotion and about 4 or 5 cameras, many crew people.  loads of cables and cords mommy was trying not to trip over  as the living room was small and filled with the crew. Also, between takes, the kitchen was being swarmed with the make up people to powder the noses of the mom and cute boy.  Hey, what am I .....chopped liver!  Mommy had the brilliant idea of putting me in a red bandana and everyone loved it.
Also,  off the set, the clients were watching the filming and laughed hysterically as they saw me cock my head to the side whenever mommy placed me in the kitchen, left and was in another room. I was saying"hey, where did she go and my expression had a big funny question mark on my face".  They thought I was hysterical and adorable and ate it up!  I"m so happy it went well and the crew, the gals off set and the production team and director really appreciated my cooperation and applauded mommy's great concentration and ability to get me to perform properly and not waste their time.  It was officially declared a "wrap"  and I was able to schmooze with the pretty women in the living room and fool around with them. They all took many unofficial personal photos and videos of me and really had a great time with me. Mommy looked exhausted so she took me out and at 1:30PM she had a great lunch which included a delcious salmon dish, loads of beautiful salads and green beans.  I was under the table trying to steal scraps but she pulled me towards her and just gave me my own dog treats!  I ran to the pasta bar whenever anyone dropped food on the grass...I was there to clean it up! She wasn't too happy about that. Also, being under the table I almost accidentally pulled a card table chair and it was about to fall right on my head when a camera man came to my rescue and hurried and got it away from me!
Well, that ended that! Mommy quickly scooped me up and demanded I sit on her lap and be still.  It began to rain a bit very slightly at the end, but we were protected under a canopy. Mommy thanked the production manager, director and clients and we signed our "time cards" and prepared to head back home.
I'm truly loving this show biz career and mommy had a blast doing it too. We make a great team and I love her very much! Even though she is a bit strict sometimes....she  is the best mommy in the world and takes my interests to heart and makes sure I'm under her excellent wing!  We would love to work with the Blue Cross/ Blue Shield team again.  They are very professional and it worked like a well greased engine!

Until later!

Halloween Party, Art Gallery, Photo Shoot?

Hi Gang,

Since we spoke last I've been on a whirlwind of activities.  I volunteered to entertain 24 kids at the Boys and Girls Club for Halloween and we had a blast. Because the weather was unseasonably warm,  I wore a lighter "chick magnet"  sleeveless shirt which the kids loved.  We gave out loads of prizes  including a prize to guess my new trim fitting weight (22 pounds), how old I am, what kind of dog am I etc.  There were about 6 prizes so loads of kids won. They also did loads of tricks with me and most wanted me to dance or spin.
We gave out candy, took photos and all the kids gathered around me for a photo shoot. Mommy took her sister Deborah this time and had a blast.
Then,  I tried out for a photo shoot so wish me luck. I don't know whether they chose me yet, but I'd be on the bag of a famous dog food!  I'd love to win and be an international star!
On Friday night I invited mommy to another art gallery showing at the Trunk Gallery and it was fascinating.  The art was actual wood sculptures from Alaska with ornate Indian faces and masks and then it looked like "fake fur" to make them almost human objects. They were quite intimidating but fabulous.  Everyone loved me, petted me except for one man who didn't want to pet me.  I got him though......I siddled into him and pushed my little tough body next to his lower legs and shoes and he was laughing and then almost forced to pet me or I wouldn't move.  Many people call Frenchies the Joker as we are quite silly and funny.  I truly live up to my name!

Until next time,

Bottom Feeding is not What's It's Cracked up to Be!

Dear Fans,

Since I've been a young pup in April 26, 2006 and my mommy got me in August 26, 2006 I have slowly been known to be a dog that looks all over the floor, ground and anywhere I can for extra scraps of food, bits of dust, anything that remotely looks like something I can eat.

My mom as of late has referred to me in the last year as a true "Bottom Feeder".  I know shell fish are known for this habit such as shrimp, crab and lobster and it's not truly a good trait.  It means we "scrape from the bottom" to find things to eat.

I know she has been frustrated with me as I'm very short, have a small nose, so I constantly stop her on our walks or when I'm in a new home or place of business to sniff everything on the floor.

Well, the other day, this habit of bottom feeding "did me in"!  I ended up getting very sick to my stomach,  throwing up and then my body was shaking from head to toe! Mommy went into high alert and panic mode. She called a couple Vets and they were totally backed up. Then, she whisked me away in the back seat of her car and drove as fast as she could without breaking the speed limit. She was about to turn on Sepulveda and go to an emergency hospital much further down the street, when she remembered a great vet a Sinai Animal Hospital on Venice Blvd.  She veered out of the left lane, sped down the street and went in and out of local streets to try to turn on the right one.  She stopped traffic as she had to parallel park  on a tiny street and then held me tightly and ran into the vet.

My new 24 pound physique was quite a bundle to carry for a block. She was huffing and puffing and spewing the words out about" here's Rocky! He is having trouble breathing and shaking and sick to his stomach"!  They were excellent. They took him quickly to get me oxygin. Then, proceeded to do a full set up Xrays and blood tests.

Mommy knew the vet as he owns 4 French Bull Dogs. They began a rapport and he showed her photos on his screen saver of his latest Frenchie girl who is a new champion and about 15 months old. Mommy mentioned she has some ability left to breed me at least one more time as she saved my  sperm in the Valley at a special place.  He seemed a bit more interested as he said" Rocky looks better and is more filled out"!  I was declared an excellent patient.  They looked at the Xrays and found loads of gas pockets in my stomach and some dark lining indicating a swallowed some food or something stuck in my tummy!  Fortunately it wasn't big.  They gave me two shots to coat my  stomach, two sets of pills to take home.  $381.00 later I came home still feeling queasy and not eating.
Mommy watched me closely for two days and forced me to take the pills. By the second day I was much better and eating rice and a bit of normal dog food!  Darn it! So boring!  I was about to put my "nose to the grindstone" and grab a crumb that fell on the floor when mommy screamed" Nooooooooooooooo!"  I looked up sheepishly and realized old habits die hard and so a bottom feeder I will be but try to be more careful with what I catch in my mouth!

Until we meet again!

My latest Girlfriend.....Alice!

Good evening fans!

I must say, mommy makes alot of new business friends and later they become new friends of hers.
We know the local "baker" who is going to open up a wonderful shop on Grandview Ave in Mar Vista.

Mommy met her about 4 months ago in the summer at a Mar Vista Block party with 100's of people including a councilman was there! She impressed mommy at the time with her fabulous multi berry homemade pie and delicious crust!

Since then, we have gone to two of her house parties. She lives above the business which is not officially opened yet to the public.

She is a very tall, lanky, pretty young lady named Alice! I didn't realize she has an affinity for French Bull Dogs and has grown quite fond of me.  We went to visit her late afternoon yesterday and mommy had delicious homemade coffee and waited until Alice opened her magical oven and brought out delcious home made bite sized scones with figs and red walnuts! They were divine!  I know, as I was being my typical "bottom feeding self" and ate the crumbs that fell on the floor.  Well, Alice saw I was hungry and thought mommy didn't feed me. Little did she know, I had just eatten a fabulous dinner but had room for more!  I'm not one to refuse good treats.

She brought out some nice cheese and proceeded to have me do my assortment of tricks for her while she rewarded me with the cheese.  I got a bit frisky and ran back and forth really fast on Alice's hardwood floors.
All of a sudden we were laughing and playing at a feverish rate!  I got a bit too excited and held onto Alice's arm for dear life!  Alice didn't realize how strong I am for a 24 pound little Frenchie. When I get my mind to it and get into an excited frenzy, my grip turns into a "death hold" and I don't let go!  She laughed and giggled and mommy had to extracate me from Alice's poor slim arm!  I was so exhausted I was  panting and when I pant,  I have the most enormous cheshire grin on my face!  I look like the "Joker" from Batman! Alice smiled and took loads of photos of me.
She is very nice and mentioned I might inspire her to make special scones for dog biscuits which I would certainly encourage her to do!  Maybe she can name them after me, Rocky the Angel's Special Dog Biscuits and Bites!  Anyways....I can always dream.

Now besides my girlfriend Rosey (the French Bull Dog), Louise (mommy's good friend, I now have a crush on Alice! She is sweet as "pie"...no pun intended and I think I will enjoy our visits to her shop. I promise next time to tone it down a bit and not get so excited!  She is thinking in the future of getting a french bull dog girl and maybe I can use my last vials of frozen sperm to mate to her and give mommy one of my daughters!  Well.....I digress..... one can always dream....

Talk later!

Playing with Chassidic Jewish Children....

Good evening fans!

I had a funny experience when mommy took me and a girlfriend for a walk at Burton Chase Park in Marina Del Rey the other day!  We were walking along and then I started walking really fast as I smelled delicious BBQ chicken.  We came upon a whole band of Chassidic Iranian Jews which were a few families having fun with their kids.  All were very religious and protective and the parents were "curious about me"  but at the same time cautioning their kids to  "keep away from me"!  They were bewildered but then chasing after me.  About 6 kids were feeding me table scraps amidst the screams of their parents to "be careful"  don't touch Rocky's water bowl ...it's filthy, things like that!  I was just trying my hardest to cuddle up to the children and beg  for more white rice and delcious chicken.

One older boy who must have been 10 held me leash, but not being used to touching a dog was afraid to pet me. They had a "push pull" relationship as they came only so close and then squealed and ran away.  The older boy would pull on my leash while mommy tried to tell him not to  pull me so hard. When she asked if he would merely pet my back, he wouldn't and ran off.

We tried to leave them, but I became like the piped piper of Marina  del Rey and a whole band of all their relatives started chasing after me and screaming in my ear with delight and fear! Their parents were getting all flustered as they didn't wish all their kids to run away.  They were very cute and very funny.  Mommy was getting tired of them as she was trying to take me home and drop me off as she and her friend Louise wanted to see a  fun movie.  It took 1/2 hour to finally get them to go back to their parents! It was a major adventure for them and a couple of them put their little chubby fingers on me for about 10 seconds to touch my fur and barely pet me.  I'm happy I got them to see I'm not scary at all and love kids and everyone giving me loads of attention!

Until later!

Trunk Gallery Art Gallery Party!

October 6, 2012  mommy took Deborah and I to a great neighborhood art gallery showing. The party was around 7:30PM and had some nice modern art and also sculptures there.  There were so many people and the food and drinks mommy said was excellent.

Now you must know me by now....I"m a true "bottom feeder"...meaning that because I"m so close to the ground and my legs are so short, I smell every crumb and piece of food that falls to the floor and grab it like a real little pig!  When I"m around, no one has to clean the floor.. so that is one good thing about this bad habit.

Mommy can't stand it as I"m constantly stopping and pulling her to stop and smell the floor and grab at food. My sense of smell is so heightened it makes it difficult for her to relax sometimes and enjoy the event as I"m constantly pulling her in all directions.

They even had a special catering truck at the party but they left as the owner also had a lot of her own catered food so it seemed to conflict a bit with the truck.  The people were friendly and everyone was taking my photo.  In fact, the owner, Ann sent us two cute photos of me in my army outfit and mommy in her black top and pants.

So many younger girls loved me and held me and gave me so much attention.  I truly enjoy going out on the town and love that mommy includes me in her activities.

On Sunday October 7, 2012 Mommy took me to the  Abbott Kinney Festival. It was a huge event with literally thousands of people and it became too much of a mob scene. There was loud music, many booths, food and wares.  We finally sat down at a  booth with a brown leather sofa to relax and loads of young guys in their 20's and 30's and cute  gals came to me like a "chick magnet"! All wanted to take me home. I took advantage of the situation and let them all scratch me on my hind legs and massage my back! Boy was I in heaven. Many of the people said how adorable I was and took many photos.  I bet I"m the screen saver on many people's computers and I phones.  I had an adorable smile on my face with my funny looking crooked teeth.   The only bad part....mommy's parking space was over 1/2 mile away and in the heat it seemed like it took forever.  I was pooped out and enjoyed collapsing in my cool home with mommy!  Now I'm ready for the new week!

Until later!

Happily Blogging again!

Good morning Fans!

I mentioned I tried out for a potential reality TV show about Hollywood Paws that they may create.  I did well on the interview which was nerve wracking  as there were about 6 other dogs in a circle all waiting one at a time to perform their tricks and also have their owners discuss all the nice things they do for the community, what groups they are a member of, etc.
One dog claimed it knew 150 tricks and followed 150 hand signals from it's owner. When mommy told her boyfriend about this, he said without flinching "Oh, you should have said Rocky does over 200 tricks"!! "not"  LOL.

Anyways,  I have made a concerted effort to be more cooperative with mommy these last two weeks.  When she does the command "speak"  I truly try to speak louder and bark more rather than my quiet" woof-woof"!  We frenchies are NOT normally known for barking a lot. We are more of the polite, delicate French natured  dogs.  What am I saying...I don't even consider myself a dog. I mean, everyone around me calls me an "angel"!!

Lately I  have been invited by mommies business friends to parties. One gal, Alice is starting her own fabulous bakery business on Grandview Blvd in Mar Vista!  I went on a business meeting with mommy a couple months ago to discuss future health insurance for her and her future employees. She may buy a French Bull Dog girl one day and mate her to me! Mommy would be thrilled as she would love to have my daughter as I get older.  My dad, The Rock is still alive and kicking at over 12 years old and we have longevity in our genes. My grandpa was probably close to 14 years old when he died. Then,  I went to a party gathering "soft opening" that Alice had and was the only dog there. She gave me a piece of ham and I looked for all the crumbs of the baked goods that hit the floor and cleaned up!  I so cleaned up, that unfortunately I"m 2 pounds heavier than normal (24 pounds) instead of my smaller fighting weight of 22 pounds!  Mommy may have her friend Louise expand my Count Dracula costume and put Velcro waist band so I can fit into it for the yearly Halloween Party I put on for 24 screaming, delighted kids at the Boys and Girls Club!  They love me so much and I do tricks for them, we play games and give them candy and prizes!  Mommy rolls me into the Boys and Girls Club in a baby buggy!
Tonight I'm going to an Art Gallery opening with mommy and her sister Deborah and possibly one other friend. The owner and I are "tight" and again I"m the only dog showing up. The owner of the Trunk Gallery on Venice Blvd is very talented and took photos of me and included me on her web site! So, as you see I get around.  Alright,  I'm signing off now! I will keep you informed about the party tonight.

Hi fans!  Longtime no write!  I have been super busy with a whirl wind of activities. Mommy got this crazy idea of auditioning me in a new reality TV show about my Hollywood Paw Agency!  It was alot of fun but stiff competition.  I did all my tricks and pulled out all the stops.  Mommy said they are replacing the Ceaser Milan show.  I hope it gets produced as I'm an excellent spokes dog for the the agency.  I believe they will use a variety of dogs. Besides that,  mommy has been busy hoarding my commercials and showing them to everyone she can get her hands on!!

We are hoping for the best and want my videos to go viral  like  Justin Bieber!  I must run, so more details to follow!

Love,

Rocky  the Angel Therapy Dog!
